"We do not wish to walk indifferently away from those who have lost faith in themselves, in their fellows, in their very human existence. Those who on their path through life have sought refuge in a drug and have thereby come to know its hidden face, a face which reveals itself with a ruthless logic - the face of suffering, pain, loneliness, oppression, and death. We wish to offer a helping hand to all who yearn for it, to all who have sounded an SOS. And we wish to warn those who see in drugs the symbol of a magical, mysterious, or romantic revolution, or the escape from an otherwise hostile reality."
About us
Founded in 1990, SANANIM is now one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the Czech Republic that provides complex services in the area of prevention, treatment and re-socialization of non-alcoholic drug addictions.
Our 16 facilities/treatment programs provide highly structured substance abuse treatment and treatment-related programs to more than 13 000 clients each year – to drug users, pathological gamblers, people with other types of substance abuse problems and also to relatives and families whose life is often severely affected by living with an addict. Besides direct services for clients, we offer professional consultations and internships for experts and students in all our programs.
In addition to the high success rate of all its services SANANIM also works hard on removing stigma associated with problems of substance addiction.
Seven Flames of SANANIM
Flame of Abstinence – let’s abstain from everything that harms us, from laziness, from inability to cooperate – let‘s each of us define what harms us and let’s try to get rid of it.
Flame of Humbleness – let’s look for humbleness inside ourselves, as it is our greatest ally in our fight with pride, let’s be humble about what elevates us, let’s fight what humiliates us.
Flame of Wisdom – let’s learn, let’s educate ourselves, let’s search for wisdom, not only for cleverness. Let’s wish for ourselves the wisdom of the powerful, let’s be aware of our power and let’s use it wisely.
Flame of Responsibility – responsibility is one of the closest ties with our clients. We all want to be free, let’s deal with our responsibility as the reverse side of freedom.
Flame of Life Energy – it is the duty of each of us to look for and maintain the sources of our energy. Keep an eye on the sources of your energy, protect them and do not let them run dry.
Flame of Confidence and Self-Confidence – it is only through our trust in ourselves that we can help another person. I hope that our future cooperation will be grounded as it is now in trust in one another, and based on that, we will be able to create safe and sensible partnerships.
Flame of Happiness and Love – it is the highest value that all of us pursue and all our struggling goes this way.
